Highlights Of My Work
News Release
I wrote this piece for my Strategic Writing class at CU where we were asked to write a fictional news release covering a hypothetical partnership between Emergency Family Assistance Association and Trader Joe's. This news release follows their charity efforts as a recently developed collaboration. In this process, I was able to recognize the important components of a news release which include a headline, a date and location, a summary, and a boilerplate. The boilerplate is critical because it gives the audience background information of the proposed brand, allowing a deeper insight into the objective of the said brand. In this case, it was a summary of Trader Joe's and their overall mission. Through this assignment, I learned the power of communicating to an audience through efficiently releasing newsworthy information.

Media Pitch
Following the news release, we were asked to create a media pitch to local news outlets, specifically targeting one outlet. For this assignment, it was important to complete a thorough background of the outlet to understand their mission and be able to align our idea with their morals. In efforts with the partnership of Trader Joe's and EFFA, I was asked to pitch a proposal in order to capture the interest of a journalist that may want to cover this story. I chose the Boulder Daily Mail, and after doing thorough research, I was able to understand that they strive to give attention to their local businesses. These initiatives lined up with my goal of wanting them to cover Trader Joe's and EFFA's intention to fight food insecurity. Another essential asset is the subject line of the proposal email. It must be captivating but straight to the point. I believe I was able to accomplish that through the my one sentence subject line while still creating a sense of urgency.

Audio Ads
Another assignment I was asked to tackle was creating an audio ad for Barbasol shaving cream, specifically targeting 18-34 year old women. This sounded challenging at first considering that demographic doesn't sound like their preferred audience. Therefore, I made it a priority to successfully advertise towards woman by including terms of confidence, femininity, and adding real life experiences. I used the phrase, "Shave Like A Girl", based off of the Always campaign "#LikeAGirl". Through the audio ad, I exhibited skills of using effective sounds that are appealing to the user in order to set the scene, capture attention, and allow the listener to feel an emotional connection. The overall goal is to create a lasting effect on the listener, leaving a memorable experience for the benefit of the brand.

Social Media and Website Content
Here, I created social media and website content for Trader Joe's. I focused on the announcements of their new products while still paying attention to their fan favorites. During this assignment, I learned the value of social media and website content, as it is a powerful and efficient way to send the brand's message on a large platform. The use of hashtags like "#FallFavs" and "#FreezerFriendly" along with incorporating a play on words creates an appeal to viewers in comparison to a bland paragraph. The length of the content is quick and straight to the point, while still effectively portraying the message of the respective product. Social media and website content serve as crucial components of proper brand marketing while engaging audiences and creating a strong brand presence.

Business Report
My business report is my strongest piece of work. In this piece, I was able to exhibit my skills I had learned in my Strategic Writing class at CU. The goal of this paper was to communicate with internal stakeholders on how to be more relevant in their marketing towards Gen Z. Research was a large part of this process, making sure I could give accurate information to the fictional stakeholders in order to create effective campaigns. I chose to divide my paper into sections where I could productively assess Gen Z and give stakeholders insight that could allow them to adapt their marketing strategies. A captivating title is also necessary, giving primary judgement to the piece. The use of the PESO Model shows the importance of technology, demonstrating how young people are already using social media for marketing. This report was made with the intent to allow companies and brands to tailor their strategies in order to create an appeal to such a digital generation like Gen Z.
